Nollywood actor and public commentator, Yul Edochie, has stirred fresh political debate following a strongly worded post targeting former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
In a post shared Thursday on X (formerly Twitter), Edochie questioned Obi’s performance during his tenure as governor, alleging a lack of visible developmental projects and impact on the people of the state.
“Peter Obi built nothing in Anambra when he was Governor,” Edochie wrote.
He continued, “No schools built by him, no factories, no companies, no malls, no major projects, nothing.”
The actor further criticised Obi’s record on human capital development, stating, “He didn’t even build his own people, never invested in anybody.”
Edochie also claimed that Obi’s leadership failed to directly influence individual success stories within the state.
“No Anambra man can tell you he’s successful today because of Peter Obi,” he added.
Raising concerns about Obi’s presidential ambitions, Edochie questioned his capacity for national leadership based on his past record.
“You can’t build your state, you can’t build your people, so what are you going to do as President?” he asked.
The comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with supporters and critics of Obi engaging in heated exchanges over the claims. While some users echoed Edochie’s sentiments, others defended Obi’s tenure, citing economic reforms, fiscal discipline, and infrastructure projects undertaken during his administration.
As political discourse continues to intensify on social media, the exchange underscores the growing role of public figures in shaping narratives ahead of Nigeria’s future elections.
