Arsenal are back on top, but it took a grind.
A 9th-minute finish from Eberechi Eze was enough to secure a 1-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday.
Eze reacted quickest inside the box to turn home the early chance, and from there Arsenal slowed the game down and focused on protecting the lead.
Newcastle had their moments, especially late on, but couldn’t find a way through. Arsenal held on and did just enough.
It wasn’t their most convincing display, but it keeps them in control of the title race.
Over in the FA Cup, Manchester City did what they’ve done so often—found a way late.
They came from behind to beat Southampton 2–1 in the semi-final.
Che Adams put Southampton ahead in the 79th minute, and for a brief moment it felt like trouble for City.
But the response was quick.
Jeremy Doku levelled in the 84th minute before Nico Gonzalez completed the turnaround in the 87th.
Another late escape. Another final secured.
Elsewhere, Liverpool kept their Champions League push alive with a 3–1 win over Crystal Palace.
Alexander Isak opened the scoring, Andy Robertson added a second, and Florian Wirtz wrapped it up. Daniel Munoz pulled one back for Palace.
Two things are becoming clear. Arsenal are still winning, but the performances are tightening with every game.
City, on the other hand, are still finding answers when it matters most.
Arsenal stay top-for now. But nothing about this run-in looks settled.
