Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested 45-year-old Adeniyi Benjamin for allegedly posing as a medical doctor and operating an unlicensed medical facility in the Olodo area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Benjamin was arrested on October 2, 2026, around 3:00 p.m. by officers of the Command Monitoring Unit at his facility, “Life Is Good Hospital,” following intelligence about his alleged activities.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the suspect was caught attending to patients and administering fertility-related treatments despite having no medical qualifications.
Police said they recovered two weighing scales, four Quantum Magnetic Resonance Body Analysers, a stethoscope, specimen bottles and a carton containing assorted medicines from the facility.
According to the police, preliminary investigations showed that Benjamin had been running the illegal clinic for several years. He reportedly confessed to operating as a quack practitioner for about seven years despite not being a medical doctor or having any licence to practise medicine.
“During preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to have been operating as a quack practitioner for about seven years and stated that he had been doing so despite not being a medical doctor and without possessing any licence whatsoever to practise medicine.
He further stated that he specialises in fertility-related treatment, which he had been administering to patients at the facility,” Ayanlade stated.
The police said the alleged activities posed serious health risks to unsuspecting members of the public, particularly those seeking fertility treatment.
The command urged residents to verify the qualifications and registration status of medical practitioners before seeking treatment from them.
Police said investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of Benjamin’s activities and identify possible accomplices. He will be charged to court after the investigation is concluded.
