Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing campaign against kidnapping and organised crime with the recovery of two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition from a suspected bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam Forest.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine ADE, announced this in a statement issued to newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.
SP Adeh said the operation followed investigations into the arrest of four suspects accused of supplying firearms, ammunition and illicit substances to bandits. The suspects were earlier paraded at the FCT Police Command Headquarters on July 11, 2026.
According to the Command spokesperson, operatives of its Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched a follow-up operation on August 2 after acting on credible intelligence obtained from one of the arrested suspects, identified as Musbahu Ishaq.
The intelligence led security operatives to Dajin Madam Forest, situated between Plateau and Bauchi states, where investigators discovered one of the criminal group’s operational hideouts.
Police investigations revealed that Ishaq allegedly sourced weapons and ammunition from Rabiu Hassan before delivering them to Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin who is currently on the run and is believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State.
She said during a thorough search of the hideout, officers recovered two FN FAL rifles along with live ammunition concealed within the camp.
The Command PRO said the operatives are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal network, recover more weapons linked to the syndicate and ensure all suspects are prosecuted.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, reaffirmed the Command’s determination to dismantle criminal networks operating within and around the territory.
He said, “The Command remains firmly committed to intelligence-led policing and assures residents that ongoing operations will continue until all members of the syndicate are apprehended and brought to justice.”
